"When You Stay in Hospital" is sung to the tune of "The Wheels on the Bus" and is an aid for children who are in hospital to help them cope with the daily routine of taking their observations.
“Haripriya was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia at the age of 18 months. As she stayed in the hospital for a long time she started to get irritated with having her observations checked. The Music Therapist helped Haripriya by creating a replica of her favourite song "The Wheels on the Bus" to the Storybook of "When You Stay in Hospital". By doing this Haripriya started to enjoy and co-operate with the nurses during her obs”.- (Haripriya’s mum)
The book was created by Miriam Cromie a Registered Music Therapist at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and it was illustrated by Joel Tarling whose experiences in the hospital with his 1 year old daughter inspired his work on this project.
