Smoke free workplace policy

The Children's Hospital at Westmead Smoke Free Workplace Policy

The Children's Hospital at Westmead (CHW) has fully implemented the Smoke Free Workplace Policy. The policy was designed to ensure that employees, patients and visitors of CHW are provided with a smoke free environment within the health service workplace.

CHW has been a totally smoke free health care facility and campus since 5 July 2005 with the exception of a parent/visitor designated smoking area.

Currently smoking is only permitted by parents/visitors in the designated parents/visitor outdoor area, located on level 2, to the side of the main entrance.

There is to be NO smoking on the campus outside of the above designated area.

Smoke free environments reduce the harmful effects associated with tobacco use amongst staff, visitors and patients, especially exposure to passive smoking. You will help to provide a safer environment for everyone by not smoking while you are on our premises.

The best thing you can do for your health and the health of your child is to quit smoking. For more information, please visit the smoking section of the Kids Health website.
